School Breaks and Homework

Teachers make me so angry over the break because they give us work to do. Why would they do that when they know we are not going to do it? I know they were a teenager at some point.

It seems like teachers don't get why we don't want to do work. We spend five days of the week working for about 6 hours doing school work, we then come home and have to do more school work. While doing that we have to do our jobs, relax, catch up on TV shows, read books and sleep. There is not enough time in the day to do all of that. There are only 24 hours but school likes to think there is like 30. That is why we love breaks! Students are finally able to sleep in and stay up late, socialize with family and friends, watch TV, movies or read books without having to stress out about school.

I know the teachers feel the same way because they are always saying they appreciate the breaks more. I beg to differ! If you appreciated it more then you would not give us work over the break because then you would not have to grade them when we get back. And I know you love socializing and not stressing out about school just like us.

For Christmas Break please don't give us homework or else you will get coal in your stocking.

I Have a Disease...

I have had this disease for a while now and it won't leave me. I know some of you also have this disease and I am sorry because I might have caused it and the worst part is you don't know you have the disease. I feel that it is my duty to warn you about this disease so you can avoid it. Who knows, you may not want to avoid it. Well this is the disease's name....

ObsessesiveTVShow Disorder. Or OTVSD. Now I know some of you are freaking out but do not worry because I will tell you the symptoms.

The first symptom is when you hear about the TV Show from a friend or family member or you see an ad for it on TV. You get this curiosity and decide to see if it is any good. So you decide to watch an episode and then the next symptom happens.

You have to, no, NEED to watch more. This is when the disease starts to get dangerous. All you can think about is the TV Show and you spend all your time watching it. Friends, family and school work get pushed aside so you can satisfy your hunger for the show.

The next symptom is when you decide to spread it. You tell all your friends and family about it so they can share the experience with you. Next thing you know you have an epidemic of OTVSD and it is too late to stop it.

I hope I have enlightened some of you if you have the disease and I hope I can prevent it for everyone else. You have now been warned.

How to Talk During a Slow Dance

If you have ever been to a dance, whether a stag or date dance, then you know all about the slow dance. It can be the most awkward dance ever if you cannot hear your date but I have a solution to your problem.

Step 1) Look at your dance partner in the eyes while you are dancing with them. This gives them the illusion that you are paying attention to them and that you can hear them.

Step 2) Whatever they say just nod your head yes or say yes. If they give you a weird look then say no and hopefully they carry on the conversation.

Step 3) If it wasn't a yes or no question then suggest you play tag so you don't have to awkwardly ask what they said for the twentieth time.

Step 4) Once the song finally ends say "Thanks for the dance" and walk to your friends so you can tell them all about your awkward slow dance.

If you follow these guidelines then you are sure to have a non-awkward slow dance. If it doesn't work then it is your fault for listening to me.

My Life in Six Words

"Christopher: Caroline. Caroline. Caroline. Do you have somewhere else you have to be?
Marisa: No, I just have to leave.
Christopher: Well, I don't think you're leaving. I think you're running. And what I can't figure out is, are you running towards something you want? Or are you running away from something
you're afraid to want?"-Maid in Manhattan

Steal like a Poet

As far as rides to the Land of Death go, the boat looked really cool but his expressions startled me. "What do you want?!" I screamed.
"It's to the left with the spider webs and insects," he whispered. Then I remembered on Labor Day he said that he was hurt. I told him not to take himself out under any circumstances. He then put on the facial expressions everyone told him to put on. But I saw the tears glisten in his eyes as he did it. I knew it killed him to do it because he wondered at things nobody else did. That was when I knew I was on love with him but could never have him.

Thanksgiving

Something that really bothers me is when people skip Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas just as much as the next guy but we can't ignore Thanksgiving. It is like having two friends but only valuing one of them. It is not fair. If it were not for the Indians who helped the pilgrims who knows where we would be today! Also we get to eat tons of food and we get a break from school. Why do people automatically go into Christmas mode after Halloween?

Memories

I remember my first sleepover when I was five. I remember when Backstreet Boys and N'Sync were big instead of One Direction. I remember wanting to always play with my big brothers. I remember I had a crush on my brothers' friend. I remember when I hated to come inside because that meant bed time.

I remember when my mom told us she was having twins. I remember how scared I felt not knowing if I was gonna be on the dance team or not. I remember how wonderful and special I felt when my crush from middle school told me he liked me.

I remember when I watched the very first episode of Spongebob. I remember watching Totally Spies and wanting to be the red head. I remember watching the Jimmy Neutron movie in theatres.

I remember when my parents told me we were moving. I bawled for two hours. I remember when my aunt and uncle got divorced and how my cousin and I drifted apart. I remember when my dog was put down. I remember how scared and alone I felt when I went to school for the first time here.

I remember when I began making friends here. I remember fireflies on cool, humid, summer nights. I remember late night swims in the neighborhood pool. I remember my first date. We held hands. I remember the times when I would laugh so hard I would cry. I remember that you have to take life one day at a time.
